Since I found out I was preggo with a girl I been excited to get her ears pierced. As most of you know I research everything. After she was born I began researching and talking to her doctor. It is then I discovered controversy "brutal"some say, "unnecessary, and risky". My mom and dad had my ears done early and I don't remember a thing. After much thought we decided to do it here's why.
1. It should only hurt for a minute or so
2. The boys had a much worse procedure done that to is unnecessary and much more risky. ( but would thank us later)
3. She would mess with them less at this age as she would at an older age.
4. these things are part of our culture and this makes us US. Most girls/women have ears pierced. I actually don't know one lady that doesn't.
*** I decided to get another ear piercing so I can get one with her. This moment became a mother/daughter moment. We have matching earrings***
I love you my baby Brittain. You handled it amazingly. By the way cried less then 30sec
Here she is this am
Was searching for my GF's blog and came to your interesting one. Saw your post about having you and daughter's ears pierced as a special mother daughter bonding experience. You are both adorable with matching earrings :) I did the same thing with my little girl as well when she was six months old. I think you're a smart and thoughtful mommy for doing her at this age.
ReplyDeleteSome say to wait at this age to pierce their ears, but our ped encouraged me to do it when mom could care for them. She gave me some " Tips for moms having their dd's ears pierced and " Care for Newly Pierced Ears" since she had so many moms ask about having their infants and little girls ears pierced.
I know cerebrally, as mothers of girls of all ages, we know it celebrates their femaleness and femininity. After all, they are little girls, right?
Promise they will thank you later for the "gift of pierced ears" as an infant. If any other moms would like any of our ped’s tips for piercing, then don’t hesitate to write me an e-mail. They include OTC meds to minimize any discomfort as well as how to find the most experienced person to pierce her ears.
